Most of our teachers hold degrees and certification in education. All staff are CPR and first aid certified and bring years of experience working with young children.
Ms. Kim — Owner & Director
B.S. in Education from Illinois State University. Certified in early childhood, regular education, and Deaf education. Former reading specialist and pre-K through 2nd grade teacher with Chicago Public Schools. Currently teaches the Oaks class.
Ms. Ashley — Oaks 2 Teacher (T/W/F)
Has worked with preschool-age children since high school. Former VBS director and Sunday School teacher at Munster Church. Lives in Schererville with her husband and four children.
Ms. Dorothy — Acorns Tue/Thu Teacher
Bachelor's degree in Organizational Communications from Bradley University. Over a decade of preschool teaching experience in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood. Lives in Schererville with her two elementary-aged children, both White Oak alumni.
Ms. Rachel — Acorns Mon/Wed Teacher
Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology from Indiana University Bloomington. Former pediatric speech therapist. Lives in Schererville with her husband and two daughters, ages 9 and 5.
Ms. Carolyn — Oaks Class Assistant
Degree in Sociology from Eastern Illinois University and a Master's degree in School Guidance Counseling from Lewis University. Former instructional assistant at AERO Special Education Cooperative. Lives in Crown Point with her husband and two children.
Ms. Anne — Oaks Class Assistant
Degree in Social Work from the University of Akron. Former child abuse investigator for Summit County Children Services and YMCA preschool teacher in Ohio. Lives in Schererville with her husband.
Ms. Kim — Mon/Wed Acorn Aide
23 years working with children at Faith Church, including 13 years as Faith Church Preschool Director. Lives in St. John with her husband Jack (married 30 years). Loves to spend time with her three adult children and grandson.
Ms. Carrie — Acorn Aide
7 years as a special needs aide at Lake Central High School and 2 years as a preschool aide in New Jersey. Active in children's ministry. Married to Pastor Drew at Crossroads Community Church; they are parents of five adult children and thirteen grandchildren.
