About Us

Our mission, philosophy, and the heart behind White Oak Children's Academy

White Oak Children's Academy classroom

Who We Are

Established in 2014, White Oak Children's Academy is a very academic-based preschool with a Christian influence located inside Crossroads Community Church in Schererville, Indiana. We proudly serve families throughout Northwest Indiana.

Our goal is to recognize and respond to the individual needs of each child and provide age-appropriate activities in a safe and nurturing environment. We believe that every child learns differently, and we meet them where they are.

Our Approach

We use a hands-on, multi-sensory learning methodology grounded in state and national early childhood guidelines. Our carefully sequenced curriculum builds on prior knowledge through:

  • Early literacy, language, math, and science concepts
  • A wide range of learning materials and hands-on learning centers
  • Teacher-led instruction differentiated to meet the range of all learners
  • Daily outdoor play (even in the snow!)

School Calendar

We follow the Lake Central School District calendar, running from mid-August through mid-May.

  • Aug 17–18 — Meet & Greets
  • Aug 19–21 — First Days of Classes
  • Sep 7 — Labor Day (No School)
  • Oct 30–Nov 3 — Fall Break (No School)
  • Nov 25–27 — Thanksgiving Break (No School)
  • Dec 21–Jan 4 — Winter Break (No School)
  • Feb 15 — Presidents' Day (No School)
  • Mar 22–29 — Spring Break (No School)
  • May 10–14 — Last Week of Classes
  • June — Summer Session I
  • July — Summer Session II & Kinder Bootcamp
